She’s a lot like I was when I first started writing her story: bad breakup with her lobsterman boyfriend, sleeping on friends’ couches, working two jobs in the service industry. She didn’t think her life could get much worse. Until she met Ali. The only thing they have in common is their names. That, and a burning desire not to be living together in a tiny cottage in a small town in Midcoast Maine. Dirty dishes. Loud sex. Showing up uninvited at the radio station when Allie is doing her show... Since Ali seems determined to make her roommate’s life a living nightmare, our hero decides the only thing she can do is grin and bear it, like the good little service sub she’s starting to realize she’s always been.
